Description
Special School District (SSD) speech-language pathologists (SLPs) champion our mission by fostering students’ speech and language development and ensuring all students have access to both general and special education. As an SLP, your assessment and intervention services will empower students with communication disorders or delays to realize their full learning potential. SLPs are committed to developing the individualized plans required for each student in their care and to prioritizing accessibility and inclusive practice.
SLPs can serve single or multiple schools located throughout St. Louis County, depending upon their assignment.

Caseload Cap
The State of Missouri doesn't have a cap, but our District works with all SLPs to ensure equitable caseloads across the District. For individual caseloads, we aim to keep direct minutes to 2800-3400 per week, and most students are seen in small groups. In addition, per Joint Resolution, SLPs are given 250 minutes per week of plan time (ie 50 mins per day), 90 mins per week of diagnostic time at the elementary level and 60 mins per week of diagnostic time at the secondary level and at least 150 mins per week of RTI time. The rest of the time may be used for direct service time with students.

Additional Qualifications: Speech/language teaching experience in schools or other comparable settings preferred

Training program: We have supports built in for all of year 1 SLPs regardless of years of experience that include a mentor, monthly meetings and 5 days of professional development. Our year 2 SLPs have quarterly meetings and 3 days of professional development.
