Currently, we are looking for a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Camden district partnership for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond. CFs welcome! Mentorship is tailored to the CF needs!

    Quality

    Schedule

The school hours are from 8am—4pm. The SLP can arrange their schedule according to the school/class schedule, including start and end time and a 30-45 minute lunch. Students have half day Fridays, which allows the SLP to dedicate the second half of Friday to case management and documentation. There is some flexibility to do this from home when needed. There is also the flexibility to just end the work week early. This flexibility is why the hours per week are a range of 32-35. It's based on a combo of the SLPs work style and how they choose to manage their caseload and workload.

    Additional Work Hours

    None

    PTO

PTO is accrued each pay period according to the sick and vacation policies. Sick time is accrued at a rate of 1hr for every 30 hrs worked and vacation time is accrued at a rate of 1.5 hrs for every 30 hrs worked.

    Holidays

The schools district is closed during federal holidays and so the SLP is not expected to work. Holidays will be unpaid unless the SLP chooses to use their PTO.

    Productivity Requirements

    info
We try to keep productivity (time spent in direct therapy/consultations) between 60-70% depending on the complexity and severity of the caseload. The remaining 30-40% should be used for indirect tasks such as meetings, preparing IEPs, progress reports, etc. There is flexibility here when students are absent, sessions are canceled for school related activities (testing, assemblies, etc).

    Caseload Cap

There is not a specific caseload cap, but we consider the productivity breakdown (70/30 or 60/40) to guide the workload. If/when SLPs are approaching this, we ask they communicate this to their manager/lead SLP to advocate for more support.

    Dedicated Space

Yes, shared office with dedicated desk

Employees are encouraged to use the New Jersey Temporary Disability (TDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI) programs to facilitate their leave for up to 24 weeks paid by the state. Our company provides support for all necessary employer verification paperwork during the application process.

Training program: Training at Short and Speech Therapy Services, Inc. is tailored to each individual CF. We use ASHAs CF requirements as our bare minimum and go beyond that. We begin with an orientation to review school based items (SPED code, IEP timelines, CST members, etc.) and encourage open communication and questions. Initially, all writing will be reviewed (IEPs, progress reports, evaluations reports). Each "case" will be reviewed together. This can be a new referral, selecting assessment tools, interpreting test results, reviewing and/or developing IEP goals, and even reviewing behavior and classroom management. Guidance is also provided in researching therapy materials, assessment tools, therapeutic modalities, information regarding special education law, etc. As the school year progresses, SLPs are expected to become independent towards the end of school year. However, guidance is never removed, as they are allowed to ask for support and lean on the CF mentor beyond that initial year until they feel confident in each aspect of the job.
