Training program: A clinical fellow will get exposure to feeding, augmentative communication, and a diverse medical caseload in most scenarios. They will be assigned a CCC SLP as their supervisor. This supervisor will be experienced in all of those areas of expertise. It is a great opportunity to learn in a setting that provides a "box of chocolates" so to speak of a caseload. You never really know what you are going to be working with until you step through that door even if the physician diagnoses "developmental delay". This is both fun and challenging. Home health is a personal setting where you establish a relationship with families. This too is a great opportunity for a clinical fellow-as home programs and family education are a key part of what SLPs do but don't always get a lot of exposure to in other settings.
