You can’t leave the table until you’ve finished everything on your plate. Ring a bell? Even with the rise of responsive parenting and feeding, “just one more bite” or finishing what’s on the plate is a common demand of kids at the dinner table. It’s an expectation that we come across all too often as pediatric feeding SLPs. “I just want Johnny to finish a meal!” parents exclaim. But is this a realistic goal for us to work on? And if so, how do we tackle it?
