Your long-term care patient Anita is visited by her granddaughter Zoey once a month. Anita has dementia and doesn’t always remember details about Zoey’s life. Zoey feels uncomfortable but tries to connect by making small talk. Despite their best efforts, the conversation lacks a social framework to promote lively discussion. The nursing staff want to help but are stretched thin and aren’t very familiar with supportive techniques. Social distancing guidelines and visitor restrictions add stress to an already challenging situation. Let’s get with the times! Technology can be a useful tool to spark up the conversation…
