The interaction between identity, language, and autism has been a hot topic in the research world this month! 

 

First up: how do your autistic clients learn about autism? What is their primary resource for autism knowledge? Many likely learned about it from their parents or professionals like doctors, teachers, or an SLP like you (or TikTok… like, probably TikTok). However, different information sources can affect how autistic people perceive their knowledge and identity.
 

Bury et al. surveyed 198 mostly late-diagnosed autistic adults to find out where they learned about autism and how that source affected their perception of autism and their identities as autistic people…
